Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church
Each summer parishioners donate new school supplies for students in our area. In mid-August, we coordinate with local social service agencies and our St. Vincent de Paul office so we can distribute packets of supplies to students with the greatest need. This year our goal is to provide 200 packets of supplies to community children.
During Advent, our parish collects gifts and donations for food to give to families who would otherwise have very little for Christmas.
Greier Lay Missioners
Started in 1985 as a tribute to Fr. William Greier, our first pastor who served for over 25 years, the Greier Lay Missioners has as its purpose the sponsoring of parishioners who want to serve in the missions. The program is open to all parishioners 18 years and older, single or married.
Spanaway Food Bank
Volunteers and contributions for our parish and other local churches provide assistance to people who have need of food in our area. The second weekend of every month, parishioners are invited to bring to Mass some
non-perishable food items, basic household supplies and
toiletries for the Food Bank.
Free Blood Pressure Screening
Parish Nurses serve the parish by providing Free Blood Pressure Screening after all Masses on the second weekend of each month.
Pierce County Deanery
Our contributions to the Deanery help the Church be present in our Catholic Schools and in ministry to the Hispanic community of Pierce County. The deanery also serves those who minister in jails, those in hospitals, and in a variety of other ministries.
Archdiocesan, National and Universal Church
Each year we are invited to support the ministry of the Archbishop and the Archdiocesan Church through the Annual Catholic Appeal. In addition, special collections, e.g., the Mission Collection and Peter's Pence collection are taken up to support the ministry of the Church in the United Sates and in the world.
